In 1940 and 1941 two of the greatest directors of all time, Alfred Hitchcock and John Ford directed movies that would be named Best Picture (Rebecca and How Green Was My Valley). Neither one would direct a picture that would win Best Picture again , even though their great pictures would be in the future. Ford would go on to win three more Best Director Oscars, but Hitchcock would never win one.
