Thomas Mitchell had quite a year in 1939. He won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role of Doc Boone in Stagecoach but also appeared in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Only Angels Have Wings, Gone with the Wind and Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.
